Patrizia Calvio
Patrizia has perfected her style
philosophy over
the last thirty years to three
fundamental steps:
-Be the true you
-Wear it
-"Deliver Your Style" to the world
Born in Torino, Patrizia's passion for the Fashion and Beauty industry began at the age of 11, working alongside her parents at their family clothing business. Since then she has never stopped working in this field, experimenting constantly and loving every aspect of it.
The Deliver Your Style (DYS) concept was born when Patrizia moved to London in 2008, to explore the multicultural fashion and style of England's fashion market, blending her eye for clothes and fit, with international influence. But the concept found its roots in a little Italian girl’s passion and skill, which grew and developed thanks to her father's business teachings.
“My father was so dedicated and passionate to his work. His product selection was always customized to fit his customer's needs, his care for his clients went beyond any expectation that a customer could have, and it showed in his clothing. In an era where there were no smart phones and no GPS, he was always making doubly sure to have all the information he needed in order to personally choose, alter, and deliver the garments; his dedication to extra service made for a consistently smooth and unique shopping experience. He helped me to train my eye with a simple game: he made me guess the sizes of people passing by and when a customer would stop in to try some clothes I could test my skills. In the end I became an expert! I learned so much under his tutelage which still guides me today: to create and maintain long-term customer relationships, to expertly read a client for what they need, and to patiently listen to a client for what they want."
Among her favorite professional growth stories from London, Patrizia credits her experience at Harrods, the world-famous fashion store known for its spectacular customer service, where she garnered several industry accolades and was instrumental in the success of their personal shopping-assistance program called "By Appointment". It was here Patrizia began to build her own clientele, providing expert styling advice and knowledge on products, services, and trends.
Her success with satisfied personal clients speaks volumes about her talent. While she acknowledges the influence of her upbringing and natural eye for fashion, she also finds daily inspiration in the vibrant tapestry of life in NYC. Here's how she describes the contrasting influences:
Italian Roots: "In Italy, beauty is woven into everyday life, from a stroll through the streets with a coffee in hand to browsing the food markets, or simply gazing at the landscape, art is everywhere."
NYC Energy: "New York offers a completely different rhythm and lifestyle. Yet, beauty and style are just as present if you know where to look and if inspiration wanes even in your urban jungle, a simple click on your phone unlocks a world of endless possibilities."
Significant were her collaborations in NY with Modabox and Tiziano Zorzan, the Italian independent designer. Patrizia provided fashion direction to buyers, visual merchandiser for sellers, and served as fashion consultant for private clients. Managing fashion shows, she learned how organized chaos backstage equals glitz and glam onstage. Designers, models, fashion stylists, hair and makeup artists engage in a complex dance, with only a few seconds changing time from look to look. “As a fashion stylist I had to make sure the models were head to toe ready to walk the runaway. That rush of adrenaline almost felt like the survival of the beautiful. Everything must be perfect!”
Patrizia's philosophy is her lifestyle, and although she knows how to accentuate her customers' fashion style she doesn't lose track of her own. She likes modern classic contemporary and bold styles. Her preferred era is the 1960s, both European and American. When asked in an interview with what stylist or celebrity she would exchange her closet, Patrizia answered that she wouldn't change her closet with anyone! When she browses the clothes hanging in her closet she feels like she is walking through her life; every garment and accessory reminds her of a place and state of mind, an anecdote that happened in the past, and gives her an emotion. She can't find all of this in any other closet!
She's now developing collaborations on artistic and customer projects that incorporate her past experience with her future ambitions. Her advice for anyone interested in how they look, is reflected in her philosophy of "Dress Your Soul". She encourages every client to dress based on their mood, the environment, the occasion, or simply the desire to try something different - learn to listen to your soul, she promises, and it will tell you what to wear!
